IMO, New England teams are pretty overrated. Deerfield and some of the teams in Connecticut are good, but there just aren't as many athletes up there.
Long Island, Upstate NY, Philly, Baltimore, DMV all are better hotbeds imo.
In regard to those other areas, it's all about the youth development catching up the athletes. If/when that happens, look out.

Lacrosse isn't the sport of the future, but it has a nice spot as a niche sport. It's huge in Maryland, even in the public schools (which is why even lower tier Maryland schools like UMBC and Loyola are nationally competitive - they have a steady supply of talent).
I am bothered by the fact that Maryland, my team, plays an excrutiating slow down style which, frankly, is terrible for the sport. Slow play is the biggest problem in the sport. It's just so easy for a good team to stall.
