Definitely don't sign his name on the check if you're planning to make a deposit in person. If they're following policy then they'll generally require the other individual to be present to verify the endorsement if they aren't on the deposit account.

So no it isn't as simple as to making it out just to me, the insurance company wont do that, already tried.

I've asked my bank what I should do and it seems none of them wanna make a decision because they are scared someone will wanna come back later and try and claim money.

It seems like the best thing to do it sign for him, mobile deposit it and be done. Could there be repercussion for signing his name and trying to deposit it this way? Do they look at the checks that hard when they are mobile deposited?
