Is it good or bad that we can't keep coaches?

I know this hasn't been a problem with LSU in the past, but is it good or bad that we can't keep coaches?

i don't blame LSU, i blame the coaches of today. they are only in it for self-interests, and loyalty is a thing of the past

Don't know if it's good or bad but we need a coach that has roots in the SEC. So far we brought one from Michigan and now we've got one leaving for Michigan. How weird is that?

Saban came from MSU not UM

I think that people are going to start to ask "What's wrong with the LSU job?" They have had two solid and successful coaches and both of them have left the program. Granted, each coach that we have had left for the only reason that they would leave (Saban to scratch the NFL itch, and Miles to go back home). Still, as the candidates that we target turn us down, I think that you will hear that question.

Do you think I don't know that??? I meant the state smart arse.

I think the fact that we can't keep them is good. I hear people who say they don't want LSU to be a stepping stone for coaches. Screw that, that's awesome if we are a stepping stone to the NFL or a dream job (i.e. coach's alma mater).
As long as we are a stepping stone, it means one thing and only one thing...we are winning.

It seems like our staff now use LSU as leverage to go elsewhere...
Pelini to Nebraska because of his success here.
Miles to Michigan possibly from the success of half of Saban's recruits...
We are one of the top, if not the top program in the country and coaches leave like it's no big deal.
Maybe we don't pay enough???

Sorry man...just a little on edge from all these coaching changes when we've got a lot of football left to play. My apologies.

It's better than having a bunch of coaches that we end up having to fire.

I don't think it's a matter of coaches using the program as a stepping stone.
The head coaching job wasn't available to Jimbo. Muschamp left with Saban. Pelini is going back to get the job he should have had in the first place. Miles is going to his alma mater when their long time coach retired.
It's just the nature of coaching. We've been blessed with a number of coaches who are desired by other programs. That's a good thing. If other teams don't want them, we shouldn't either.
You can't expect any man to stick to a job for his entire career when there are so many other things that play a role in his life. It is what it is. If we sit here and bemoan it all the time, we're the ***holes. They're just men making decisions for their own lives.

I think that's only the case when speculation of change is in the air constantly or we face a former coach...

It does seem like a series of coincidences. Which clearly it is. However, I do worry that in the future the job won't be as attractive to some candidates. If the coaches keep leaving every 3-4 years.

I don't want to turn this into a LSU vs BAMA thread, but which coaches are we talking about? I know of only 2 coaches that have been desired by others, Curry and Franchione? Dubose,Price,Shula have left disgracefully.

both....
good because our program is able to make coaches look good enought to be hired away....
bad because we keep having to find replacements...head coaches who can be sucessful at the highest levels of the college game are rare....we have had two in a row now, so the odds are stacking against us finding very many more...
