Is it just me? The story seemed like it was approaching crazy at the beginning, and is a little overboard overall, but really she's just talking about how she was caught in a weak moment and had to take a step back and appreciate things more.
It didn't really seem that crazy to me, maybe off or overly dramatic.

Functioning adults have a handy filter that prevents them from broadcasting their id willy-nilly to the entire universe.
If this wannabe prude was so concerned with being prudent, then she should consider her naughty selfish thoughts (aka emotions) and keep them the frick to herself.
