My lawn from hell. How do I fix this? by bootleggerI switched from Simazine to Specticle this past fall...man has it done a hell of a job. The ball fields are as clean through this winter as ever, and still holding strong. Simazine worked well for the poa, but allowed some swinecress and a few other weeds to pop up in late spring. The Specticle hasn't allowed shite to come up.
yet gave me advice to get Simizine which was $100 and I still had some weeds pop up although the POA took an arse beating. The few areas where I got fungal infection in the st Augustine this late winter though, even though sprayed in similar fashion as other parts of the yard, had a significant amount of POA reappear.

It's always smart to apply a granular fungicide in the spring and fall with St Aug. A granular insecticide and a good preemegent herbicide at those times as well to keep it healthy and weed free. This allows you to feed it in the spring without the "weed" selective herbicide component.

I will always recommend Simazine for home lawn use. It is what I use in my yard. It is much cheaper and more readily available than Specticle.
