Perception is reality. What you say is petty may not be petty to them. He's not a child, he's a grown man that broke the law in a foreign country that has severe punishments. He knew this and decided to steal something anyway. I'm not saying their punishments are right. It's pretty obvious they are wrong. But what makes him special?

he is a American and we give them millions of dollars in Aid every single year. They will just use him as a way to get more.

They don't give a frick about stealing anything. They will run his face on their news and make seem like some big victory to their sheep.

There is no way in hell you're being serious right now I understand this. None of the shite you're saying applies to North Korea torturing people to death.

Getting 3 years for having a gun in NYC is nuts, but that's how they do it. That's understandable. What North Korea does is not even fathomable. Think about the places that chop off your hand for theft. THOSE PLACES ARE BETTER THAN NORTH KOREA Given the choice, I'd chop my own damn hand off and come home before I spent 15 years losing body parts and dying of starvation.
