perception is reality. your message will fall on a lot of deaf ears. besides Blanton was white and everyone knows white people can't (and shouldn't be allowed to) play basketball.

simmons was a damn good player; it's a shame he didn't have a better supporting cast and it's a shame the team had a shite attitude.

yes, JJ is not a great coach but dale brown proved you can still get a lot of mileage out of a talented team if they have the will and work ethic. playing defense is about attitude and work ethic. this team sucked at defense. they were simply a play ground team.

It ought to fall on deaf ears because it's a pointless point. Essentially no one was talking about Simmons' season as one of the greatest in the history of organized basketball. It was, again, being touted as one of the best all time for a freshman in the SEC.

That's true regardless of whether or not this LSU team played in the postseason. That's true whether or not his season compared favorably to an LSU 5th year senior legend.

As for the unnecessary bullshite about being white, take that to the PoliBoard where it'll be appreciated. I've torn into this thread from the get go, not because of some perceived race issue or even a lack of love for Blanton...a guy I've done nothing but praise the entire thread...but because it's a thread made for no reason other than to pointlessly through Simmons' under the bus using a comparision that until this thread wasn't even being made by those touting Simmons.

No issue with any of that. This team, almost across the board with the exception of Hornsby and Blakeney down the stretch, played uninspired, heartless ball. This team lacked what many of those Brown underdog teams did not...heart, and a desire to give everything to win a game.
