As I stated, Richard and Susan Lipsey are best friends with Skip Bertman

That's a fact; ever since 1986 have been very close. Richard and Susan have sat with Sandy at all of the baseball games, and generally travelled with Sandy, and or Skip and Sandy on road trips. Some people do not like Richard, because of his personality; other's who get to know him, find him to be a good person. At this point, he has "done his tour of duty", particularly with Skip giving up the reigns. He will not play a major part with whichever individual is, if indeed Miles leaves, in picking a successor. Input yes, political fight, no!

Why do friends of Bertman matter...because they are rich?

I have friends that are rich, and I can tell you that they want Saban always have wanted Saban...and have been very very worried about Saban at Bama and what he will do to LSU (west)...

we need to understand that Saban is as good as there is...and he is a recruiting machine. with leadership skills, and Football knowledge second to none per Jimbo Fisher...

Get him back if you can...who is better and more available..

Nick is still in his prime! SS pass his prime..

we need a coach for 10 year run!

I think most people, (myself included) are trying to look around at this whole coaching carousel thing with a little common sense. I personally feel Saban going back to LSU would be a murder/suicide for all involved.

1. After spending only one year at Alabama, Saban, who is already public enemy #1 with the press, would be absolutely scalded. Worse than imaginable. His reputation would suffer so grievously, that I don't think he could ever recover. That includes with recruits.

2. Alabama would garner a lot of heat from the media who would mostly want to pile on for the sake of piling on. They would have to go back into coach search mode, and implosion would occur.

3. LSU would get a media dress down that would make anything that was ever said about Alabama seem like a consolation card. Hypocrites, liars, fickle, etc...,etc...

I have read all the theories so far, and besides the emotional stuff above, here are some logical thoughts.

Everyone has called Nick a whore and a money grubber, yet they believe he would leave Alabama for less money? Guaranteed money at that?

A 10 million dollar buyout? What possible benefit would Saban find with a buyout? That's is completely contrary to the great contract he is currently in. 32 million guaranteed beats 10 if you're fired. He has to pay 10 if he leaves, but he has to pay Bama nothing. The logic on trading deals there is completely backwards.

The whole concept of Saban back to LSU doesn't work for so many reasons. Not to mention the number of LSU fans that would never forgive him regardless.

I think it is safe to say that the Saban/LSU ship has sailed for the present. Now three or four more years down the line, and it might be plausible, but it would be horrible for both programs and Saban right now if it happened.
