Well yeah, I'm not talking about hindsight, though. Guy was knocking down 30 a game and that's all people saw; a supposed great scorer with NBA range yada yada yada
Case in point, he was drafted AHEAD of these guys (read twice to let this sink in) WHY?
Klay Thompson
Alec Burks
Morris twins
Kwahi
Vucevic
Tobias
Faried
Mirotic
Reggie Jackson
Jimmy Butler
Parsons
Ike Thomas
How does fredette get drafted in front of Klay, Kwahi, Butler on any planet?
I'm wary of Heild until I see how he tests and measures at the combine. Think about how he's going to handle the likes of Thompson, Leonard and Butler defending him with their length and atheltism? How will he create his show vs guys like that?
The other side to that coin is scouts that overvalued potential over a guy like J.J. Rediick who had 4 years in college to accumulate enough data to make scouts weary. Despite winning NCAA player of the year and having all the skills that players in the NBA succeed with and enough measurables and discipline to grow the others.
He was taken 11th that year. Got skipped over for high potential guys like international player Mouhammed Sene and Patrick O'Bryant.

Only two mocks I looked at from 2011 had Fredette at 10, ahead of all of those guys

J.J. Rediick
kinda the other side of the coin but
And still wasnt a double digit NBA scorer until his 5th year in the league. Wasn't the player he is now until year seven in the NBA. So you got 4 years of college and 4 years of NBA to hit 10 ppg, and doesnt become a legit NBA starter until he's 28 y/o
JJ has worked HARD to get where he is at, and it obviously took time.
Now, Heild may measure out better than Redick did, thus allowing him to be closer to that 26 y/o Redick than the rookie Redick. In the end, the pick we land will dictate if taking Hield is a value or not.
