I grew up fishing Chicot with my pawpaw. There are a few species to target. First, you can bass fish out there and use just about anything. It's early in the season. Try a spinner bait. If that's not working go to a Texas or Carolina rigged plastic set up.
If you are more interested in Sac-a-lait, go with the old standard jig pole with a fly and a piece of worm. Shad on a hook will work well also.
Work the Cypress stumps (there are a lot) Chicot actually means stump. Good luck and have fun.

Carolina rig at Chicot? Where exactly are you doing this at
Pitch a jig, bandit crank bait banged off the stumps and trees works as well as creature baits. place is tough but there are some good ones in there.
