How does LSU always have such a low RPI in basketball?

It is like year after year, always a struggle with this rpi and getting selected for the tourney. Even with wins against opponents with higher rpi, LSU does not climb much.

SOS. Play better ooc teams.

That would be my first inclination. To schedule the better teams in basketball. Even a loss to them would improve the rpi it seems.

really poor scheduling. I have always been a supporter of Jones, but have continuously said he puts us in a position to fail with the way he schedules. You can't play multiple 300+ RPI teams.
75% of RPI is a strength of schedule rating. Only 25% matters on if you win your games or not.

I agree with everyone that tougher OOC schedule would help, but in terms of this season, if you don't have a tough OOC then you better win. Which we didn't so our RPI is awful.

Thanks South. Here is hoping that this may change in the near future. It would boost the teams spirit and the fans knowing they had a better shot at the tourney.

We play terrible OOC teams and lose to them.

If we had beaten Okie? How much does that one win change the rpi for LSU?

The bad non conf losses
two more non conf wins would have locked this team in ncaa
losing to wake at home and nc state
losing to Marquette
losing to Houston
all games lsu should have won
with Victor they probably win all of them

Look at LSU's losses and figure out how many of those were against NCAA tourny teams, that is your answer
Oklahoma
Texas A & M
South Carolina
Alabama
Florida
Houston
Marquette
NC State
Arkansas
Charleston
Wake Forest
Tennessee

Because we have a really really really shitty OOC schedule each year

UF is absolutely the perfect example. Their RPI and BPi is extremely good because they played
#21 Purdue
at #1 Michigan St
at #17 Miami
Florida St
Oklahoma St
And they are 17-13 with a losing conference record but have a better shot at making the tournament than we do right now.

How about not even taking a road trip to these type of teams unless you're playing in some tournament.

Winning more games would probably help
Posted on 3/2/16 at 8:28 am to themunch
Yeah only 2 of those are tourney teams at this moment btw

RPI isn't based solely on OOC which is why I included ALL of the losses because we had some bad conference losses (Arkansas, Tennessee) that has hurt our RPI ranking
