I'd love to have electric stuff that performs as well as IC. I have wires that bring the fuel directly to my house and it is cheaper. However, at this time most of the electric stuff is junk. I'm all for figuring it out.

It was once said that we would have more advancement in battery power but the oil companies managed to stall progress, this is probably bs. Our American economy depends upon fossil fuel at this time so the transition will take a long time, imho.

A battery is a energy storage device, not a source of energy, it has to be continuously recharged, and at this time that is going to be done with electricity generated with fossil fuels, that and the almost non-existent effect on overall fuel consumption by hybrid cars means O&G companies have little interest in the state of battery technology.
