The point I tried to make and apparently didn't is that I think we are making judgement based on race that are probably more of a economic/cultural issue.

Majority black schools tend to be in areas of higher poverty where education is often not looked upon as the primary route out of poverty nor are the resources typically there for it to be a route unless the student takes it upon himself to pursue that usually outside of the public school available. When I was in high school, that certainly wasn't my priority.

Most would agree with everything written here, however your statement reinforces the OP's position.

Let's face the truth here, any school with a majority black student base is most probably a shithole, sure you can find exceptions but they are just that exceptions.

We can debate the causes until the end of time but the facts remain the same.

Facts can be tricky things. I guess my objection is the fact that the OP related good schools to low black population and I was responding to a poster who who stated
quote:

The higher the minority population, the worse the school does academically

which is clearly not true.

As to the rest of my points, you would be hard pressed to find a majority black school not in an impoverished area, any you would find would also be exceptions.

Conversely, the OP later posted the area that the school would be in. in that area in New Jersey, there are 2 public schools that show up in that area, 1 is ranked 144 out 416 public HS in New Jersey 1% Black 91% White. The other is ranked 401 out 416 public HS in New Jersey 1% Black 85% White.

Really, the OP should have just left the % black out of his statement.
