At some point we will reach a point where having people out of work and not buying products will negate the automation revolution. When do we see that happen?

Never, the people who are smart enough to see it coming are too few. The lazy, stupid masses want this to happen.

I had one of those robot dogs for a while and it was pretty cool. Best duck dog I ever owned.

Never, because those they put out of work first will be more than willing to just go on public assistance. By the time the skilled professionals like lawyers and engineers get replaced, it will be too late to stop.

Want what to happen? A peaceful eutopia with infinite resources and no one is required to work unless they want to?

Yeah that sounds horrible.

This is the answer. The fact is, in my years in the automation and controls business, my experience has been that automation may eliminate a few jobs but typically also creates higher paying jobs in the maintenance fields.
