This isn't true. Wrestling on your knees from the neutral position isn't an uncommon strategy. This is basically what he does.

The advantage comes from weight/strength. The area of the body he's missing probably accounts for 20-30 lbs.

That's said, it isn't an "unfair" advantage. Just an advantage.
