your use of failure is exaggeration. But he is rightly viewed as an underachiever for the talent he had and don't forget he left the program in shambles.

I don't disagree that Coach Brown left things in a bad state with the Lester Earl debacle, but the '86 Final Four team greatly over achieved.

I saw many of Coach Brown's teams up close, talented and not so talented, and the biggest difference I remember in comparing his teams to Coach Joes' teams is defense. Dale's teams rarely played poor defense. Contrast that to Jones' teams where the ball is routinely dribbled to the front of the rim game in and game out even when they play zone.

Merrriam Webster definition of comparison: the act of looking at things to see how they are similar or different.

I don't see how some of you thought I was describing Dale Brown as a failure. I loved Dale as a coach and still do. He is why we are disappointed today. He set the bar for LSU Basketball. I actually said he was a good coach. I did describe JJ as a poor coach. I simply picked one aspect, cohesion/teamwork, that I see/don't see consistently throughout their teams that they put on the floor. I saw it with Dale and don't with JJ.
