How was he holding him back? Miles hired Aranda under Alleva's watch and hired Steele the year before under Allevas watch?

The Chavis contract and the subsequent hiring of Steele was indicative of the administration putting serious restrictions on Miles ability to run the program. After the botched coaching change, they really had no choice but to re-commit to Miles. I don't think it "exposed" anything, but it was a serious error in judgement with respect to how they tried to go about the change.
