Scoff all you want. But the stats are awful. In California for instance, they weed out the higher scoring Asians and whites in favor of extremely marginal blacks and hispanics for spots at places like UCLA and UC Berkeley. Which may satisfy your sense of social justice. You check back in on them two years later and a scandalously high number of them have failed out or transferred in to schools like Chico State where they (academically) belonged in the first place. And those asians and whites who were sent to lesser schools disproportionately transfer in to elite schools after their freshman year. That is how social engineering works, it makes everybody feel good, inevitably fails, and we politely pretend we didn't notice it.
