I mentor at a school in the local ghetto. I had a student. Bright enough and engaging. But very odd. He'd say things that seemed to be lies. Over several times of going to the school, he slowly told me about how he was keeping wild baby animals in a container behind his house.

I told several school officials this. You know what I was told? What can we do about it? The chances are he's lying (which is almost certainly true, he lied about a ton of stuff). We can't prove anything and his mother won't answer our calls. We legally can't do anything else.

Really showed how odd our society is.
