Neither Strief nor Spiller will be gone before the draft.
Unlike Jahri, the bulk of their savings only comes after a June 1 cut.

And nothing happens till we are certain of an outcome for Drew.
Like people have said, the savings on either of them can't be spent till June 1 anyway. So, before that, is a team willing to spend anything to acquire Spiller? we'll at least ask.

Now, let's say we extend Drew, and have pre-draft cap to spend.
Well now we can agree to a deal with a player, and finalize it after June 1. So maybe we have a reason to cut both, and save that $4.7mm.
We can designate one of them (Zach, because, thanks) ... and just tell CJ to F off if he doesn't net us a pick before June 1...

Then heading into the draft, we prioritize a guard in the 2-3-4 so Andrus moves to RT... and add a Kenyan Drake/Kelvin Taylor at RB in the 4-5 to bolster RB depth.

Could strief net a pick in the range that Grubbs did?

Or possibly a 4th?

I'd imagine teams would let a midround pick go for a still solid tackle who doesn't make a ton.

A June 1st cut doesn't bring you any extra savings, it just spreads it out over 2 seasons

I concur about the guard situation, but I seriously doubt we draft a RB under any circumstance. Even if we somehow get rid of Spiller(which I'm hoping we can do)...we still have Ingram, Khiry, Hightower, Murphy, and Cadet to choose from. 3 guys that can pound it, a returner, and a receiving back.
