The Army and Navy are undergoing historic cuts right now, so, this is a tough time to decide on joining the military.
I'd say take a look at all of the armed services. If only one offers OCS go that route. If two or more offer OCS, that's great!
It is a possibility, however, that his only option will be to enlist, because of the draw-down in force size. I say, "so what"?, because, a person can have a fantastic career in the enlisted ranks. In some ways, being enlisted is better than being an officer.
