just found out was arrested a month ago (drug related) not sure charges

Probably threats of jail time, followed by pressured requests to become an informant.
Then probation if first offense.
ETA: Just saw your above post. Now he's definitely becoming an informant or getting a little jail time. Unless he's wealthy, of course. Good lawyer might prevent jail time.

1. state/locale
2. defense attorney
3. career vector of prosecution. i.e., how rabid is the attack? will he accept plea bargain in exchange for info?
Let me guess.
5 years actual time in prison. whopping fine.
if I were him, I would mortgage the house to pay the fine and bail, and go to Brazil with the bit that is left after bail.
