regular DVD
Bluray
3D
4k

I reluctantly jumped on the bluray train years ago but now they are releasing 4k films that are of course more pricey.

The trick is just make a digital media library.

Or subscribe to one.

I used to be all about physical media, and still am on special things I want to have no matter the internet connection.

But, digital is where it is nowadays.

You could just buy a huge hard drive and a simple computer and use your TV as your monitor and the hard drive as your media storage!

I haven't bought a physical copy of a movie in 10 years.

If I didn't have an xbox I wouldn't have any of those. I stream everything.

Don't worry about it - just pick one that is sufficient for your needs and go with it.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I struggle to see a situation where someone is going to point at your Blu-Ray collection and laugh at the quality of the picture/sound. It may not be the best, but it is certainly good enough for a long time.

I prefer older movies. 95% of the ones they make today are either duplicate ideas or remakes. For this reason alone, I think blueray is more than sufficient for my collection.

The twice a year they make a new movie that is worth seeing, I will wait til it comes out on blueray/digital and buy it cheaper than it would cost for 2 to see it at the theater.

I don't watch the same movies over and over again to justify buying them. I either Netflix, Redbox, or Amazon prime my movies.

It's too bad there isn't a format for movies that's comparable to vinyl for music.

I like having physical copies of the thi vs I like. Already had a huge DVD library, every once in a while I'll pick up something (usually nostalgic or collectable) from a store like Hastings.

I go w/ DVDs because I really like special features. And I sometimes like what they put in the casing, too.

DVDs FTW!
