The auto shutoff can be bypassed by plugging in a third brakelight in the trailer hitch. Probably tricks the computer into thinking there is a trailer behind it to disable that feature. Someone is welcome to chime in if this is incorrect. My info did not come first hand
The starter is built like a brickshithouse to accommodate the starting and stopping sequence. Still not big on it.
The eco diesel is extremely nice. Dodge has come a long way and their leather interior setup looks great.

I'm not unhappy by any means with the MPG
The power this thing has unloaded makes me smile everytime I hit the gas. It's like a sports car

If you want good power and good mileage unloaded or loaded get the 5.0. My 4x4 gets 18 to 20 highway and 14 pulling a 3500 lb load. A very solid engine.

Now I can live with that. If there's an easy non-permanent way to defeat it that I don't have to manually engage every start, I'm cool with it.

There is a button to turn auto stop off. It goes in sleep mode at stop light. It also has a large AGM gel cell battery to accommodate this. It restarts when you lift foot off brake or it needs to juice up the electrical charge due to load on battery. It's so subtle you hardly notice it restart.
Mine has been great so far. I have a 2015 super crew. Avg mpg is 23 commuting. I see up to 25-27 on highway.
I tow a 20' BassCat Cougar tandem axle. Generally get about 14 mpg towing. Basically same as my wife's V8 5.4 on power in the seat of pants feeling.
The 2.7 is peppier for a quick boost when those twin turbos kick in.
All in all, I would do it again.

3.31 ratio with the towing package.

Had this on a 4 cylinder Malibu rental and I barely noticed it. It shuts off at a traffic light and comes back to life when you lift your foot off the brake. I also drove a Range Rover Sport with a similar feature and felt that it was not nearly seamless enough, possibly because of the larger engine.
Seems to be less smooth and seamless on V6 or V8 engines than in I-4s. Not sure I'd go for it if it can't be turned off especially on motors with a propensity to "shake" when cranked, like a V6.
Not a welcome technology IMO.....but like aluminum construction and completely neutered unit body crossovers, the EPA indirectly demands it, and buyers have to pay for it up front despite cheap gas prices.

I don't think the ETA cares what gas prices are. They are just concerned with efficiency, it doesn't matter to them how much oil is selling for.

That's my point. CAFE mandates high fuel economy ratings that indirectly forces manufacturers to install expensive technology or use more expensive, lighter materials even when gas prices aren't driving consumer decisions. These often unwanted technologies drive up the costs of new trucks especially.

Just bought a 2015 2.7 two weeks ago. Drove the Chevy, GMC, and Toyota the Ford just looked better inside to me than the GMs and the Tundra gas milage is pathetic.
I drove the 3.5 and liked it too, much smoother acceleration. And that is saying a lot cuz the 2.7 has great acceleration. This late they didn't have many 2015 3.5 4X4s available so I went with the 2.7. don't do too much towing so really didn't need the bigger engine.
The auto start thing gets annoying sometimes if your only at a light for a few seconds and it shuts off. There is a switch to turn the feature off, also if you have a trailer hooked up it turns off, if you have the wheel turned sharply it is shutoff (guess that's so if you are about to make a right turn and waiting on traffic it won't turn the engine off).

I've got same setup as you're looking at. Love it. Tow 21' Bay Boat no problems. Power out the arse w twin turbo. I'm at 12K miles getting 21 and 27 MPG. Auto start won't engage unless you bury the brake pedal. Feather it and engine will keep running. It took a few months to get used to it but it's nothing now.

I thought I noticed a couple times that it didn't engage when I wasn't fully pressing the pedal in, but thought it was just a fluke.
Only had the truck 2 weeks so now I need to try to do this intentionally. Hopefully I can figure out just the right amount of pedal pressure to keep it from engaging.
