Going down memory lane this morning with Louisiana High School Basketball talent in the late 90's. Who remembers the 1998 Parkview Baptist team? That squad was basically a loaded AAU team.
Marquis Ledoux top 100 played for LSU and Tulsa
Robert Jupiter played for UL-Lafayette
Courtney Trask Memphis LSU top 100
Jermaine Williams LSU top 100
Shon Robinson - JC - Baylor
Robert Shannon - Sam Houston
Hard to find another team this loaded back then....
Also in 1998 you had Stromile Swift at Fair Park, Nick Anderson at Southern Lab, Torris Bright, Dino Daniels, Brandon dickerson at Woodlawn, Kyle Horsnby at annacoco, Shawnson Johnson at Green Oaks, Brandon Mouton at St. Thomas Moore, Collis Temple at University Lab. Sure I'm missing some. Talk about a state loaded with high school talent then.

The most talented of them all was juemichael young from Hammond supposedly. I heard stories that he was absolutely unguardable in practice, just couldn't stay out of trouble. I saw him play in high school and he was definitely NBA material. Don't forget Chris Duhon from salmen that played at Duke

Mike Smith '95 West Monroe was Michael Jordan's first pick in Washington.

Couldn't hold the jocks of the Purple Panthers back to back state champs of the early 2000's. Coach Almond is the GOAT.
Darnell Lazare
Kentrell Gransberry
Chijuan Mack
Ledell Eackles Jr.
BTW, Stro had Reggie Robinson on his team...they were pretty stout.

Chris Duhon would have been in HS in 98-99 as well

I remember Young, he was briefly on LSU's squad. Reminded me alot of Lamont Roland. Can't forget Chris Duhon, another good one that got away from LSU. Can't fault him for going to Duke back then. Won a championship his freshman year at duke.

Juemichael Young was never close to NBA material. Torris Bright and Chris Duhon were levels above him. I went to school in the same district as all three players. Juemichael could jump out of the gym though.

He wasn't a red head. Kyle Hornsby he's on my list. Was a great player in his own right also.

Eackles, Gransberry, and Lazarre all had pretty good college careers also. How did that team fare against Parkview back then?

That's funny because I watched young play against Duhon in a game at SLU and absolutely dominated him. The battles he had with bright in high school were epic as well. John Brady himself told young's high school coaches he was one of the most gifted players they ever had, but like I said, trouble always seemed to find him

Young was definitely a scorer. Duhon was more of a true PG and a great defender.

Off topic but Antaun Jamison, Bryce Drew, Bill Russell and Clyde the Glide were born in Louisiana as well

Wasn't that Neil Reid kid who went to Indiana at a New Orleans area school during that time?

Jeumichael young was not anything special in high school. I still have no idea why brady wasted his only scholarship that year on him.
Late 90s parkview basketball was as blatant as it gets when it comes to schools bringing in guys just to play sports. That school had probably only gone to the playoffs a couple times in its history and had maybe a handful of black people ever go there. Then in one year they have an entire team of star basketball players and are traveling around the country winning tournaments. Dirty.
