Public schools provide ride homes for everything, band everything!
Not in St Landry Parish they don't. When Opelousas High was good at football, it was because Larry Dauterieve recruited the hallways of the school and took away the most common excuse that most kids had for not playing by having a coach drive a bus after practice.
He left, that stopped, and they've been pretty much shite since.
Then they redrew the zones in the parish and started sending kids from Opelousas to Port Barre. Those kids don't play at Port Barre because there is no one to bring them back to Opelousas after practice. And Port Barre has gone downhill as well.
North Central and Northwest have never been good at football for similar reasons, can't recruit hallways.
