Considering we have a very healthy predator population of coyotes, foxes, and bobcats, the trapping idea would be very plausible. I may take that approach if it comes to that. Dog hunting ends on the 26th so I'm thinking this problem won't get solved until next year. I'm calling the timber company tomorrow though. Thanks guys for the advice. I'll update if anything happens. Good hunting!

Here's the problem with dogs, many fog hunters don't care if all the dogs make it back to them after a hunt so left over dogs can become feral and are more detrimental to the deer herd than coyotes. I treat all dogs as feral dogs regardless of collar or whatever the circumstance. I don't know their health situation or temperament and I don't trust it so I put it down. You put enough of them down and it becomes a hassle for the dog hunters who will then move on.

If their dogs are running on your land, it is equivalent to them coming and sitting in one of your stands and shooting deer on your property, because they are moving deer to them that may otherwise never be seen by them.

trust me if you tell those guys you are trapping they will not run the dogs unless they are just trash. tell them there are leg traps all the way to your property line and you'd hate to see them lose any dogs

it works

There was a case, I think in North Carolina maybe(?), where neighboring clubs and landowners actually sued a large property owner who was running dogs. It fell under the same statutes as being able to enjoy your own property without intrusion from others or their pets. Have no idea what it was called. Anyway, it led to pretty broad sweeping changes in dog hunting statewide wherever it was. Wish I could remember right now. Also wish someone would do it in LA.
