I'm not going to knock Davenport - he was a helluva good kid and hard worker. I think he dealt with either some injury issues, scheme issues or whatever. He transferred to Tulane and went back to the DL and played fairly well for them.

However, Lawrence looks to be a hybrid - and in a good way - combines some of the traits of a good (great?) defensive end AND a great DT. We'll see if that translates to the SEC, particularly with Aranda's attacking style.

I'm as stoked about him as any player in the class, to be completely honest about it. We've missed that disruptive style of player inside, and we'll definitely need those types of players if Aranda moves more towards a 3-4 - whether it be a more open 3-4, or a smothering 3-4 like Bama plays - either way, more is put on the DL at the snap, to free up a backer to shed and pursue.

What level of competition does he play in?

I cant wait to see Neal, Lawrence & Key coming after the QB while Beckwith picks which lane to rush from
