My first time playing it, yes I know I am way late. Any advice for a first play through? Mistakes you made that I can learn from?

Don't spend a week in the first area. Do some missions, level up, then move onto other areas.
That's the main thing I remember; people getting bored b/c they spent their first 20 hours in what is basically a tutorial level.

Get out of the Hinterlands at least for a change of scenery. Most of the sidequests feel the same in that game so you have to at least go somewhere different. The environments are great.

I loved the game including all of the quests.
As people stated. A lot of the people who got burned out fast got burned out because they stayed in the Hinterlands for too long.
I tend to do every side quest so I didn't have a problem with sticking to the area.
It isn't necessary so you can move along once you have a grasp of the game and you can always come back to finish off the area.

The 20 hours I spent in the Hinterlands were more enjoyable than the 20 hours I spent in the Hissing Wastes
To the OP: Don't be afraid of answering a question "wrong" for fear of missing out on anything. There are very few instances of that. Just roleplay your character however you want.

yes, my advice, play mass effect instead.

I def spent 20+ hrs in the Hinterlands and probably 5+ trying to beat those fricks at the river.
It's crazy how many hours you'll put in, and the. BAM. That was the prolouge.

Higher difficulty made it a bit clearer that certain areas of the Hinterlands you needed to come back to at a later date.

Kind of like that one rift at the emerald Graves leveled way above everything else

That's a good point. They might as well have slapped the DA:I logo on the screen after the Dawn Has Come scene to symbolize that the game is actually starting now.

I spent an hour today trying to figure out why Sandal from origins was such a beast.
Enchantment?
I still don't have an answer.

Yeah I'm addicted to this game. I played until 4 this morning with work at 7.

My first run through I beat it solo on nightmare. My tip would be pick up anything and everything. Herbs and ore are pretty useful in this game. Crafting makes some of the best gear (depends on class).

And accomplished about 1%

I really think this game is meant to be played on at least hard. Crafting is pointless on normal.

Probably, didn't play on norm. I have pretty much played solo nightmare since the DA:O days (one of my fav games of all time).

On the hardest level, crafting is pretty important early in the came. I got killed a zillion times trying to light all of the beacons. Even crafting the best available gear I still had to get a bit lucky to move through that area.

I just couldn't get into it. The crafting in a game like Fallout is more appealing to me since I actually use the weapon. In DA I'm just giving the character commands. Either way if I played the game again I would do it on PC and play on hard.

PC is the way to go for DA. I remember hearing (not sure if true) that DA:O on console couldn't pause. That's crazy.
