The main reason LSU lost the game

Lets stop kidding ourselves with all the "Johnny Jones is a bad coach", "TQ is awful"
The reason LSU lost the game was because LSU was basically playing 4v5 for the majority of the game.
Craig Victor needs to do a better job of being smarter. He can't give up 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes or whatever it was, because lets be honest... we have no one that can come in and play the 4 or the 5. Victor needs to understand his value to the team, and quit giving up stupid fouls.
We have no chance of winning when either Darcy or Elbert are on the floor for the majority of the game. Both players look lost when they are on the court.
Craig Victor is as valuable to this team as Ben Simmons if we don't have him on the court then we are done for. That's my take

A lot of overreactions on here, I agree. We lost to a team we were supposed to lose to, because we didn't play very well.
We were 10 point 'dogs entering the game, FFS. We knew going in it would have taken a great team performance to win, and we didn't get that. Victor got into foul trouble, highlighting the thinness of our front court, and we totally fell apart offensively in the 2nd half.
It was hard to sit through, but it was just one result. Still plenty for this team to play for, IMO.

The real reason is we scored less points, and will do so at least 5 more times in regular season.

Maybe A&M is just a better team?
wait, no, that can't be it..

Agreed. But Jones is still mediocre at best.

The main reason they lost is bc A&M scored more points, imo. That and Simmons is passive af

I agree it's a game we were expected to lose, I was just surprised we have such a poor effort. In the past it has seemed as though we've played well under CJJ in this type of game. We've played Kentucky well both times we played in Lexington under CJJ, we beat Arky and WVU last year and crushed Vandy this year and really played solid team ball in those games.
This game...I know it was still close early in the second half but don't kid yourself, we played bad for the vast majority of the game and it's a game that I think all would agree was a bit one you'd expect to be up for and to play our best. That did not even come close to happening.
That's disappointing, but nothing we can do but again....hope we can get better and correct some of this.

What has happen with bridgewater. He hasn't played a second . Surely he is better than the other 2. It also wouldn't hurt if the supposedly best player in college could shoot a 10 or 12 ft jump shot

I don't think you would hear much if LSU had put up a battle and just gotten beat in a closer game.

The main reason we lost is because we have nobody that can matchup to the size and skill of Tyler Davis. If anything, the game could have been worse if they fed him more. Yeah, Victor messed up by getting the fouls, but he was drastically overmatched. A&M did 3 things that killed us last night.
1. Sagged off Simmons
2. Used their length to disrupt everyone else
3. Used Davis to get the bigs in foul trouble then force us to send out Robinson and Malone.

The 3 things you mentioned are the same 3 things every team we have played tries to do... Get one of our bigs in foul trouble, sag off of Simmons and force him to shoot, and attack right at Darcy or Elbert when they are in the game.

Could not have said it better myself. No coach in America could make Darcy Malone or Elbert better than Tyler Davis.

Maybe JJ should do a better job coaching halfcourt defense which would lead to less fouls....is it just me or does every team LSU plays get into the bonus by the 10 minute mark. Fouling is a very good indication of a bad defensive team.

Well lsu is usually in the bonus as well.

I don't buy this. I understand he is not a natural 4/5 but you are telling me Simmons at 6'10 couldn't spell Victor for a bit?
Simmons > Darcy/Elbert
If Victor is in foul trouble go small + Simmons and run the floor/press until Victor can be brought back in. JJ rotations are so stupid

My only concern is this: Where are the quality resume building wins going to come from ? We beat Kentucky who was a top 10 team.
We have more bad losses to subtract from the one quality win.
Historically, LSU doesn't win much at Coleman Coliseum. I don't see LSU beating Oklahoma unless Ben Simmons has a Cabbage patch Shaq a dance type game.
Is going 12-6 in a mediocre SEC gonna give the team the breaks it needs to be even considered for Post Season ?
Seems like a big hole to climb out if you ask me.

you're not watching the games close enough. Yes LSU does get into the bonus but not usually as fast as the other team does. And yes, LSU does play other teams that aren't coached well either.
Today's game is littered with bad basketball. Add the fact that the game is called differently today than it was 5 years ago and it makes it even worse.

LSU would have probably won 3-4 games without Simmons, and probably 15-16 without Jones.
