Breaking Bad S1 E1 question *spoilerish*

So Walter is a pretty intelligent guy right? At least that's the way I see it. So why didn't the writers have Walter call his brother-in-law and fake being kidnapped or something of that nature when everything happened at the end of the episode? Seems semi-realistic, or more realistic than all of the firefighters passing him by and not calling anything in.

This is a joke. Right?

About as much of a joke of everything that sequentially transpired after. So either discuss or don't comment, it isn't that hard.

You think faking a kidnapping to a DEA agent is a "semi realistic" idea. Do you realize how many questions Walt would have been asked about the situation if that happen.
I could definitely see the fire department just letting him slide. They probably considered him just another loony guy out in the middle of desert who started a brush fire. But to think faking a kidnapping during the pilot would be a good idea is comical.

So it's smarter and more realistic to bring unneeded attention from your DEA brother in law? He just bought an RV to cook meth in and you want him to have a case opened for a fake kidnapping?

The firefighters were there to put out a fire. They won't stop to help a broken down RV on the side of the road.
Jesse is alive, there are 2 other bodies in the RV, not to mention meth and obvious gun fire. So you think it's best to call a DEA agent and try to explain that situation? Who kidnapped him? Why would the kidnappers cook meth? Why was there gunfire? Why would they kidnap a random school teacher?
Yeah. Can't imagine why they didn't go with your version.

What exactly would the firefighters call in?

Amelio and captain cook recognized him from the drug bust prior. Walter, at the point of his video recording, seen no way out. He couldn't kill anyone and couldn't kill himself, I feel like the last resort would be to get his brother involved. He had no other option. Friends and family members get each other out of chargers everyday in real life, how is it unrealistic in this show. I can poke holes in every scene that happens in the 2nd episode and you laugh at my initial thought? Come on man. Walter had no idea he wasn't getting caught.

Walter isn't a random teacher. Jesse kidnapped him because he seen him at the initial drug bust. Knew he was his old chemistry teacher and forced him to cook or he would kill him. Stripped him of his wallet and cloths, thus being in his underwear. You think his brother is going to believe two Hispanics and a frick up over his brother?

Damn, I didn't realize meth cooks get a pass if they know someone in law enforcement.

Don't be so obtuse. I'm on the 3rd episode, and as I mentioned before there are plot holes so don't act like what I'm saying is a stretch from what is already taking place.

Your plan would be awesome for "BrBa the 2 episode series."

Just randomly kidnapped after acting shady in front of his bitch wife?
Dumbest thing he ever did was marry her.
He looked at his options, thought on the go, used what he had and this is why Walter can build empires. Legit and illegal.

So Walter convinces Jesse to cook with him and then he calls his DEA brother in law and claims Jesse kidnapped him when the first difficulty arises. Solid character arc.
Also, just because a character doesn't do what you think he should doesn't make it a plot hole. lol

because he was cooking meth, if he called in a fake kidnapping, it is not like they just take his word for it and not investigate, in which case, family member or not he's going to face charges and his whole plan would be blown. Remember at this point, he thought he only had a short time to live and was cooking meth to get some fast money to help his family.
I fail to see how the FD going to put out a grass fire passing up a broke down RV is "unrealistic".

If your initial response had something to do with not being able to further the plot, I'd have respected your response more because I can get along with that rather than "this is a joke right?" As if breaking bad isn't anything but realistic (up until this point).

Now you want Jesse to be telling the DEA the real story and just hope no one believes him?

First of all the DEA does not investigate kidnappings, they are the Drug Enforcement Agency after all, so BIL or not, some other LE, local police, FBI or most likely both would have to get involved. They would not just take Walts word for it, not question anyone else and do no other investigations. THAT would be a big plot hole, but if you are just looking for plot holes on episode 3, just quit watching now.

Please explain what is unrealistic about the fire dept going to put out a brush fire in the middle of desert?

Wut? So you actually believe that everything that went down in the first two episodes is realistic, everything? This thread has nothing to do with plot holes, just an alternative theory. Don't take offense and act like this show is free from holes.
