I think that Hamminck averaged 20 and 10 for a good portion of that last year, or at least I remembered that. I was a kid.

Ricky Blanton averaged 20 and 8 his last year, I believe.

I am not trying to take anything away from Simmons. He might end up being the greatest player to ever come through LSU and his stats this year are incredible. I am just trying to figure out if his possible "Top 5" status is based on how he is playing now, what he produces at LSU, or just how good he is and will one day be in the NBA.

I would tend to side with what one produces while at LSU both in personal and leading in team accomplishments.

If you do that, you have to move Glen Davis into the conversation since he was the team leader who led LSU to the Final Four. And, of course Maravich, Jackson, Shaq, and Petit as well as Macklin.

It is good to have more than 5 to argue about now, though.
