Wait, so when you want to do a pot roast in this thing, you really can brown the mean right in the thing and then add stock and let it go? The whole point of slow cooking is that I'm being lazy and don't want to have a lot to wash. Browning the meat and onions only to transfer them into the slow cooker just burns my arse.

Also, I'm assuming this thing could be used for canning purposes. I didn't see anything about canning in the description. To be fair, I didn't read it all, either.
EDIT: I finally found a question in their FAQs. Since they operate via pressure sensor and not temperature sensor when operating as a pressure cooker, they won't compensate for the variance of boiling point with altitude and the pot cannot indicate what the temperature inside is, though to be fair, neither can a regular old dumb pressure cooker.
Further, they don't operate at 15 psig, like most pressure cookers, because that kind of pressure handling capability would drive the price up. They operate at 11.6 psig, so they won't get quite as hot as a typical pressure cooker. The manuacturer doesn't recommend using it for pressure canning at this point.

Yes, brown it in the pot.
I will say that maybe don't add as much liquid (water, stock, whatever you add when you do the cooking process) as you normally would when you're cooking a roast. I ended up with far too much liquid. Gravy for days, but I think it would've been better and more intense had I started with less.
