My suggestion: Move to The Woodlands in Houston, much better than anywhere in Louisiana
I live in The Woodlands. Don't get me wrong I love it, but I would just as easily live in Madisonville. But there are cookie cutter, shitty neighborhoods all in that area (same as in the woodlands). There are some great neighborhoods as well. I'd love to retire somewhere near there with a house on the river.

This is the most accurate post in this thread. There are definitely nice areas, but I've also driven through madisonville neighborhoods looking at potential houses and there are places with 10 mobile homes in a row next to a run-down neighborhood with a cookie cutter establishment in the other side. And there are no 10 minute runs to pick up a few groceries. You have to go to covington, which with no traffic is like 20 minutes away.

This is the most inaccurate comparison I've ever seen for the Woodlands. You must live in Conroe not the Woodlands. The worst cookie cutter neighborhoods in the Woodlands are a 1000 times better than the nicest shite in St. Tammany period. I know I lived in both. Schools, quality of living, things to do, convenience, city with a town feel, and virtually little to no crime and a heavy police force in the Woodlands are like heaven compared to any nice place in St.Tammany Parish. What you just said is asinine dude.
