Sicario should not be in this discussion of "action movies". Not even close really. It was fantastic and I really don't understand how those scenes you mentioned ruined it for you. Those scenes don't even stand out to me when I think about the movie as a whole except for the ending with del toro part. And that didn't seem unrealistic to me

However, I'm generally on the same page as you with not liking the over the top action/popcorn flicks. Just not my type of movie really. They tend to all be very similar in plot and outcome/ending
