Jimmy just retweeted this:
quote:
Due to the relentless nature of recruiting and strain that it puts on programs like us, we will not be participating in any IMG events
quote:
IMG continues to use 7v7 as an avenue to build its program, while placing the burden of perception on our shoulders. #Pylon #Olympics #Truth
quote:
Time to stand up coaches. We take the heat, while they sweep tomorrow's stars from under our feet. It has to be stopped.
quote:
This is about elevating kids, not your program.

Good for them
I'd assume it won't be the last to do this.

Interesting.
I would imagine Jimmy gets pissed that the bootleggers take all the bad publicity and IMG comes in and steals athletes.

I see IMG being obsolete in about 2-3 years. They're at the mercy of other state athletic associations.

I have no idea what any of this means.

Sic lured me into this thread via Twitter. I was just about to go hamm, too.
Duckie hit it on the head. IMG and others with a vested interest in its program, headed a smear campaign against 7v7 and its organizers, all in an effort to minimize the impact others would have on them reaching their long term goal; building the IMG program. I took a ton of heat, while they sat back and plucked players right from under everyone's noses.
The disdain some coaches have for 7v7 lies at their feet, but they just pass the ball in our direction so they don't get hammered for what they are doing. After the Moses news broke I fielded numerous calls from coaches saying their kids would not be able to play 7v7.
The whole thing rubs me the wrong way.

quote:how fricking ironic. I love how a 7 on 7 coach is actually accusing IMG of using kids to "elevate their program" when Moses is going to get more from IMG in terms of personal development and support than he ever would from some sleazy frick wannabe handler that runs a crappy 7 on 7 team solely for money
This is about elevating kids, not your program
IMO, 7 on 7 is going the route of AAU basketball where they try to be these kids handlers. I'm glad that they got upended by IMG. frick 7 on 7, AAU, and every other outlet that allows a single grown man to take advantage of these kids for financial or personal gain

Will the kids that go to IMG typically get better education and training than they would at the schools they're leaving?
If so, what's the problem? To me, the more options you have to better yourself, the better.

A junior receiver from our local HS here is headed to IMG. He has over 20 offers so far. Stole him from us.

I bet you would not think about elevating your kids if they left your high school and went to IMG. It would probably upset your team a lot.
