How many titles would Bobby have if he got to play a championship game every year he had 1 loss? Saban has had 7 one loss seasons and played for the title in 6 of those years

Bowden had 5 one loss seasons in which he didn't get the opportunity to compete for the title....

You could also make the case that Bowden didn't deserve the title in 1993. Notre Dame got completely hosed that year. They beat Florida State in their head-to-head matchup that year. Notre Dame not only beat Florida State, they dominated them. The final score was not indicative of the game's competitiveness. Notre Dame controlled the line of scrimmage and had a double digit lead for a majority of the game. If it wasn't for a fluky TD off a deflected pass on 4th and 20, the final score would have been 31-17. So you have two teams with the same record and one team showed that they were clearly better than the other in the head-to-head matchup but the inferior team got to play for the national title because they had the "better loss". And I'm not even going to get into the 2000 Miami debacle. So spare me the nonsense about Bobby Bowden getting screwed out of opportunities to play for the national title.

The lack of more titles is the only thing holding Bowden back iMO.. Like my before post said... Just look at that 14 year w-l record.. Thats amazing and will NOT be done again IMO.............

That's a fact.

They also got a shot at a national championship in 2000 vs Oklahoma, even though they lost head-to-head against Miami and the Canes finished with the same record as they did.

They did.

Like USC in 2008. No on respected Oregon State and no one respected Boston College.

ND won the game of the century and then lost next week on a last second long FG to BC.

It's why we have the MNC and still today. Stanford, Ohio State, etc. had an argument to play for the title.
