My neighbor fishes out of a 10' flat with a 2hp outboard near Chef Pass, mainly in the harbor and marsh right behind us. It works fine; he has back issues and cannot use a kayak either.
A trolling motor would be ok for short trips in protected water. Avoid high wind, rough water and make sure it has enough amp hours of battery.
My dad had heart surgery and I would be concerned about him fishing alone.
