For the record, people break contracts all the time, in every business. They are for the protection of both sides but they are exactly that... Contracts, not sentences.

Yeah sure, people break contracts all the time but that doesn't mean they don't experience the consequences of doing so.

It's simple and always has been. If you want to trade for someone that's not a FA, you have to offer market set compensation. The Saints would be idiotic to accept anything less than two or three picks, with at least one of them being a first rounder. What Payton thinks about that isn't in his control at all.
