I guess the issue is that the Saints don't want Payton here if he doesn't want to be here anymore. On the other hand, Payton won't want new team to part with critical draft picks. When those 2 intersts collide, it creates the dynamic of a 2nd round pick being the "fair" compensation for Payton to be traded. It sucks as a Saints fan to see a Super Bowl winning coach with 2 years left on his contract get traded for anything other than a top 5 1st rounder.

This would be a complete joke. Keep him whether you want him or not if that's the price.

I thought these guys were supposed to be shrewd business men.
