D-line, O-line, LB, QB for college football championships

I know this has been said before, but after watching Alabama throttle Michigan State, it needs to be said again.
You can have all the great/very good RBs, DBs, WRs, and TE/FBs you want, but until you have great/very good DL, OL, LBs, and QB you will not win championships. The key is to control the line of scrimmage on both sides and move the chains consistently on offense.
Just look at the players in those positions in 2003 and 2007 compared with the last few years, and you will see the difference.
LSU had two of its top 10 all-time WRs in 2012/2013
LSU had two of its top 5 DBs ever in 2010.
LSU had one of its top 5/10 RBs in 2013 and its best RB ever in 2014/2015.
No championships of any kind in any of those seasons.
The DL, OL, and QB have to get better or the results will not change against the top teams.

I know winning has a lot to do w/ talent levels, but it is especially true of Miles. It is almost impossible for him to win unless he out talents the other team.

Didn't Alabama have a Heisman RB this year and a Biletnikoff WR last year? Or am I thinking of a different team?

Until we have a passing game (AND USE IT), we'll be watching the playoffs from the sidelines. PERIOD.

Basically, every position is important.
If you're discounting a Heisman trophy-winning RB and Calvin Ridley's contributions to Bama's success, you're an ignoramus. It's a team game, and every player on the field is important.

Get the 3-deep Interior DT's up as high as possible, especially the starters, and that is the majority of the issue on the D side of the ball. Of course the QB position needs considerable upgrade.

Takes some luck too. If Arkansas doesn't have a 25 yard backwards pass miracle, Alabama isn't playing last night.

w/o question. that's why our recruiting rankings have been faulty.
and by the way, msu pretty well shut out bama's running game yesterday (till late) and bama still killed them on the scoreboard. the difference was pass blocking and qb play. they found the way to win as opposed to trying the same thing over and over and over.

So obvious, so true. We pull in Top 5 classes, but so many of the top stars are NOT the linemen we need to compete against Bama--and if we can't match up against them, we're always a runner up.
Maybe it sucks to play in the division with the best program in college football, but that's the reality.

So basically we have to excel at 14 of the 22 positions on the field...
