. using unsituational stats to judge a unit is not accurate. do you even remember how bad chavis' defenses had become? do you remember getting butt stomped by both auburn and Mississippi state the year before

Chavis held ole miss to 7, bama to 10 in regulation, and Arkansas to 17 last year. It started off bad with welter, and had become great later in the year.

All 3 of those teams scored 30+ on Steele. Only 2 teams scored under 20 pts on Steele all year, MSU and A&M.

Edit: only reason MSU (19) didn't score 20 was bc they went for 2 at 19pts.
If you are happy holding one team all yr (A&M) to under Chavis' 6 yr avg then yes, Steele is a solid DC.

This right here, Im sick of LSU Granddad and his constant preaching mediocrity on our coaches.

Granddad do you ever lead with your fricking head and not your heart moron? Or are you just as happy getting our arse kicked in the 90s like where the program was headed a few weeks back? You don't know shite about football. Numbers do not LIE fool.

Chavis gave up more points in other SEC games.. had no impact plays.. and often blew games late.

LSU's defense was better yards wise because of inferior games.

Steele's defense was better vs Miss St and Auburn than a year prior. Steele's defense was better in the bowl game, given the competition. TT was #2 scoring offense in the NCAA. They got theirs but we made plays when needed.

Chavis left us pretty thin at linebacker and dline, but at least we are addressing it. I hope we can get a DT to secure that up
