Yep. If anyone is to blame it's the driver of the police car. I haven't followed the story, we're both the driver and shooter before the grand jury?

Bad optics, absolutely. But "bad optics" =/= criminal act on the part of officers.

You're assuming they drove right up on him intentionally. They were responding to a call about someone pointing a gun at people. When they got there, he had the gun in his waistband (not readily visible). They probably drove right up on him, not realizing until the last second that he was "the guy" they were looking for. So now they're like, "Oh shite, this is the guy" and as they are jumping out, he's pulling the gun from his waistband.

I'm not saying it wasn't a bad deal, but it certainly wasn't criminal on the part of the officers. Criminal charges were declined...because they didn't do anything criminal. Nothing else.

Had they stayed back though and this perp that they assumed was dangerous had begun shooting people then what would have the narrative been?
