Anybody created an app? I'm trying to create one and want to avoid Xcode. So any advice? Any easier software or template program?
Update on 2nd page... now looking for a programmer (xcode) and will write the scope. Simply dont have time to learn developing.

There's plenty of ways you can build an IOS app outside of Xcode, but as far as I know most methods will still need Xcode to compile the IPA and provision for app store submission. If you don't have a Mac, you can use something like MacInCloud for the final stages before submitting your app. I think Cordova(formerly PhoneGap) may be able compile the app on their servers for you.
What kind of app are you trying to build? If it's something relatively simple there's a bunch of services out there to build cross platform apps. You can try Goat Apps

Not simple. It will require entry fields and a database search.

Using Xamarin now. It's easy if you already know C# and it makes it possible to create a single app that can be deployed across iOS, Android and Windows without a lot of extra work. You will see need XCode and a mac to deploy.

Well what languages do you know?

Build it as a web app with meteor. JavaScript wins the day.
If you need help getting going, let me know.

None outside of scripts. My background is networking.

In that case why not get started with app inventor 2 @ MIT?
It's beyond easy and you can always convert the code to java later.

Part two of this thread:
This app is a search database with required filters. The data can be found on other websites. Would be easier to take that data and enter into a SQL server or legal to link to other websites?
Thanks for the help and sorry to be vague but gotta protect my intellectual property from you Zukerberkers.

It's a bit ambitious if you don't have a rudimentary understanding of relational databases but having said that Google has a free cloud-based online database you can use to at least build a prototype.
I'm drawing a blank on the name but it's very Access-like and you can have something communicating with your app inventor app in a couple hours.
The next hurdle is determining how you plan to scrape data from the remote website.
There are tools that can do this and write the results into your Google db but if they change their site around everything will break.

Both assumptions are correct.
Just to get the app operating I can create 20 or 30 results. However the ambition comes from thousands of results out there but dont have the time to input them.

google fusion tables is what i was thinking of.
very easy to use.
takes very little effort to build an appinventor2 app that can read/write/update/delete data from the fusion database

Fusion Tables is like an online file format
Want to make data available? Link to your data hosted in Fusion Tables and your website's users can see the data without downloading it. They can explore ways to map, chart, calculate on or even search the data. They can apply filters and download just the subset that's useful to them. Or you can prevent export - it's up to you.
Always distribute the most correct version of your data
Enable use without creating hundreds of copies of your data sitting around on hard drives. When data is hosted in Fusion Tables, viewers will always see the latest version. Charts or maps they've made will automatically update when you improve your dataset.
Need to attract developers? Offer an API on your data, instantly
When your data is hosted in Fusion Tables, it's immediately enabled with an API that you can give developers permission to use. And whenever we write tutorials or add new API capabilities, your data gets the benefit automatically, without requiring tech staff attention by your organization.

Scripts? That's not a language

well, technically appinventor is a scripting language (visual) and you can program apps using it.
and javascript can get EXTREMELY complicated and i doubt anyone would dare say HTML5/javascript/css isn't a language.

Thanks captain obvious. That was the point. Are you one of those super douche developers?
