I have been trying to understand this scheme a little better, and i think LSU could recruit and have success in it long term.

I think Gilmore and Lacouture play the 2 Gap 1-4 Tech positions, Godchaux plays the 1 gap 3 tech. Neal is the Leo and Key is the Sam . (going forward you woudl have Alexander in the 4 tech, Lawrence (hopefully) in the 1 tech and Logan in the 3 tech)

the only question is if Key is actually the Sam or if he is a future Leo.

Basically we would just have to keep recruiting big DT and athletic DE and that covers 5/7 seven. Given our history recruiting LBs it think this is a good thing.

IDK

eta: bain isn't on the team and he wouldn't have been a NT anyway. Thanks for correcting that idk why i did that.

Considering most teams we play run some sort of spread, you can pretty much say our base defense is nickel. I mean, Lamar Louis was our starting SAM, and probably averaged less than 10 snaps a game on defense.

An under front would not work as our base defense. One of those fat boys in the middle would have to come off the field majority of the time.

I think Logan is gong to be the 5-technique DE

I know Oregron wanted use Godchaux a lot over the centers this year. Not sure if he actually did it or not b

This is a very versatile defense if you have the talent to run it

Your 1-tech is the bigger DT nose tackle type player
LaCouture, Gilmore, Alexander

Your athletic DT's play a inside 4-tech on the strongside
Godchaux, Herron, Lawrence

Weakside DE's are bigger because they play over the backside tackle
Neal, Logan, Lawerence, Clark, maybe Bower

Stongeside DE's play over the TE and are speed rushers
Key, Bower, Teuhema, Washington

Weakside LB plays close to the line of scrimmage and can rush the Passer
Possibly Key, Bower, Teuhema, Washington, Patterson, Thornton, Anthony

From the naked eye it looks like a 3-4 base defense
