That Mak 2 star is an awesome grill from what I read about it. That meat looks excellent.

Definitely looking forward to it.

I was originally told it would be about 2 weeks to ship, but they were able to get the grill out the next day and will be delivered tomorrow

Glad they're delivering with lift gate:
The total weight of the shipment 520 lbs / 235.87 kg

If you have a Costco close buy grab one of the pork bellies they have. It would make an awesome first cook to break that smoker in.

I have a medium size treager and I love it. Don't expect them to be able to sear or grill very well but you can't beat them for ribs, pork butt or chicken. Literally set it and forget it.

It came in Friday, but it was damaged. Apparently someone at FedEx screwed it up and mishandled it on the pallet with a fork lift

Had to send it back and wait for a new one to come in...

They're including sear stations on several of the newer ones. The one I'm getting will have a door on the heat diffuser and Grill Grates as well. I've heard good things about the advances.

You are right, the Louisiana brand grills have a louvered cover that can be opened to allow a sear station over the fire box.

Yeah, the Yoder I'm getting also has a new optional accessory of a heat diffuser with a door on it that opens to give direct access to the fire. Also getting it with the Grill Grates since I've read lots of good reviews on them. Will have a cast iron griddle as well so I can take the whole diffuser off and do steaks on one side and grilled veggies on the griddle. Lots of options available for these things now.

I'll chime in on the difference in pellets. I've used a few different pellets from different manufacturers and haven't noticed a difference. However, I have noticed a considerable difference in taste depending on the type of wood used to make the pellets. For quick tasting comparison, try an oak or pecan against a cherry. Here is a link to descriptions of different woods: Wood Reference

This was the first brisket we pulled off our yoder. Welcome to the Yoder Family.

They had a new grill on the pallet yesterday afternoon ready to be shipped today. They've impressed me with their customer service. Hopefully FedEx is nicer to the package this time around.

Only thing I didn't like about them is they didn't send us any swag. I want a big ole YS sticker for the back of my window. (Not sure if they make them). After seeing ours, a few of my buddies are ordering them for Christmas. I also noticed they didn't have any yoder dealers in Baton Rouge so either good wood or shoppers choice needs to jump on that

I didn't see any stickers, but they have shirts at All Things BBQ

I actually talked to one of the local places here about that. Apparently, they pretty much always charge the same amount in shipping and the dealers don't get much of a price cut so the margins are pretty low. I guess it's just as easy to just pick up the phone and order it directly from them or at ATBBQ so it's probably hard for the dealers to make much.

Nice

That's the same unit I'll be purchasing in a few months but with the competition cart.
