Because basically the three people higher than his boss on the totem pole came out in his favor in a power struggle. Listen to his post game. He basically spiked the football on Alleva's sack. Because F'ing Alexander wants his poormouth narrative, he undercut the only practical check on Miles. The guy that was almost fired for offensive ineptitude then came out and said that he doesn't see the need for an overhaul.

If he couldn't be fired this year because asking donors for money makes it seem like the University isn't poor, why will that be different next year? You think 15 mill is different than 12?

Alleva isn't going anywhere (fired), yall can just stop wishing for that. Isn't going to happen.

It sure appeared that there was a realization by Miles that his head is still on the chopping block by the words and mannerism he showed at the after game interview.

It sounded like he was about to say that Cam was going to be fired but then realized that moment wasn't the right time to announce it.

Miles' retention does not leave him in a stronger position than he was in before Alleva and co made a move on him. I mean he technically won the struggle, but only just. It left him weakened and likely on a short leash. I still hold out that if the school could have reached a deal with Jimbo, the bowl game would be Miles' last. This wasn't some glowing endorsement of him. It was a last-second realization that paying him nearly $2M in buyout a year on top of damn near $7M wasn't going to happen--so Jimbo wasn't going to happen. And without s homerun hire the school's leadership would have been damned foolish to fire Miles. What if the next guy went bust? What kind of shite storm would that create. And anyone we'd want to bring here is going to demand, at minimum, $1M more per year than Miles is currently being paid. There are a lot of reasons he's still here that have nothing to do with him being revered as some God by the fans or anything else as silly as that. Without a replacement, it was the right move.

That's not what he said. He said the offense goes through LF, which it does and will, no matter who calls the plays. I don't give a shite if Hal MF'in Mumme is in the booth with carte blanche to call any play he wants to, the offense will run through LF. He's that kind of player.

People read what they want to in this statement.

Some say it means Miles is not going to do a darn thing. That is overreacting.

You could just as easily make the same statement as Les; imagine for a second we got another coach in. Regarding the offense, he says:
I have Leonard Fournette for at least one season, with Guice at least 2. Given that, I don't see the need or usefulness of completely scrapping the running game; rather, we will feature these two talents.
I have a crop of talented WRs. I expect Dupre will step up and become the primary target, with Johnson developing into another big threat. I will continue to use all those others as they emerge from the pack, whether it be as possession guys, blockers, etc. Our passing game will try to take advantage of their skills, and we will integrate it with the rushing game.
At QB, Harris is returning as the main guy, and he shows flashes of extreme physical ability. Barring injury, I don't see him slipping back behind the others on the roster. We will look to recruit at this position, but bear in mind, it takes time to progress from high school to the college game. I think Harris will surprise some people with his development as a junior and returning starter.

Would you riot if that was stated? Or, would you nod, and say, that's what we have?

I've been saying this since Saturday night.

Why? TheRick said it perfectly.

I would have worded it simply as Les Miles just drug his nuts across Joe Alleva's face this weekend and now Alleva has no power at all. This is Les Miles University and he will run the toss lead 18 times a game an you'll like it!

Miles is done it will happen next year he will not change. Hope I'm wrong but wth no QB it probably stays the same . We could lose two early on to Auburn and Florida and maybe the Green Bay folks. Then what. Punt

People are taking what he said out of context just for fun.

All he meant is that we have Fournette, so he should still be the centerpiece of the offense. We don't need to go full-on spread or something that takes the focus off of #7.
