After reading all the stuff going around about how Alleva couldn't close the deal and how Alexander snuffed it out, I realized this could be the end of an era.
Whatever your feelings are about Coach Les Miles, we all need to cross our fingers that he rides this contract out and retires here at LSU. WTF do you mean, you ask. Hear me out. With the current economy, I don't see how the financial burden Alexander speaks of will be a short term problem. If the higher ups didn't like the idea of spending someone else's money on the buyout because they were afraid of the public perception that LSU's priorities were wrong, they will never see a time that is right to invest. LSU's budget will always be in danger of cuts.
We all need to enjoy the future wins that Les will provide. Doesn't matter if you like his style or not. He is good for 8 plus wins a year. Doesn't matter if you think he is past his "expiration date". Successful LSU football received a date of expiration last night. Les Miles has nothing to do with this date. It's the administration and the politicians who are at fault. However you viewed the TAF being willing to pick up the tab, heros or villains, is of no concern now. Permission was denied. Right now, LSU is a winning program. Let's all enjoy it together as fans.

Whatever happened to the guy who used the words Optimus-Miles and decepti-tigers? He was fabulous.

I was gonna say that he's good for 9 plus wins a year, but, you are probably right.
In any event, the powers that be are not all that interested in running LSU football like Alabama runs it's program. LSU is not as focused on being the best at football. That's how I see it.
I don't think that being the very best in college football is as important to this University as it is to many of the fans. That seems clear to me.
