Good hire but I think retaining Bud Foster and Shane Beamer is a terrible, terrible idea.

One of these is a proven commodity, the other is there purely via nepotism.

Now we need to make another hire.

Alonso...reports are that Shibest, Cornelsen, Vice and Vice are definitely following Fuente.

They also say one D coach, but no name as of yet.

Thoughts on those guys?

The timing of the "leak" & provisions sure feel like a deal that's been hammered out for weeks, and with Beamer's involvement. He's earned it and so has Foster, but beware of arranged marriages.

Shibest is a wonderful ST coach.

The others, well I never really know how much stock to put in certain positional coaches (like QB, TE, WR). Word is that our OL coach under Fuente, Vice, is going too and he's a good chap.

Great hire for a solid program that can consistently win 9-10 games a year and challenge FSU and Clemson for the ACC. Plus you guys are keeping Foster, who usually fields a tough physical defense.

Hopefully his record vs top 25 opponents is better than Beamers. Love Beamer and his special teams, but damn, he could not beat top 25 teams....that is unless it was the national champs last year

Great hire and Bud Foster is going to be the glue that helps with the transition. I don't think I've ever seen a more loyal and great DC as Bud Foster.... He is not only a great DC, but he obviously loves Tech....

Fuente could tear it up as long he can dominate recruiting in the tidewater and go get some studs from the south and tear into Ohio St./Penn St/Michigan stranglehold in the Midwest/Northeast/NJ regions.

He could return VT to top 10 status pretty quickly. the ACC doesn't offer much resistance.

Beamer had VT as a top 10 program for over a decade and underachieved recruiting in-state. If you can pull 10/20 of the top recruits in Virginia which Beamer could never really do. Fill out the class with Florida, Maryland, DC and North Carolina. There is no reason VT couldn't be a DOMINANT program

Really like this hire. If Miami can somehow get their shite together it'll make for some great ACC Championship Games!
