FWIW, I have always liked Les and secretly rooted for him to succeed as long as he's not facing/hindering the Hogs. In a college football landscape dominated by scandals and a constant money-grab by the coaches and programs, he's one of the few old school, high character, straight up football coaches left. He's always seemed to take things for what they are - a game played by teenagers and young men - and never taken it or himself TOO seriously...coughPETRINOcough....
Another thing: I've heard after the fact (from someone that would know) that Les' "talks" with Arkansas in 2012 were nothing more than an agent doing work for his client, and that Les wasn't after money as much as appreciation from the AD (I guess Alleva?). Apparently Les and Jeff Long are amicable and had some sort of behind-the-scenes understanding going into the leaked "discussions" basically saying that they weren't real but were if anyone asked. Long asked for input on his "coaching search" from Miles in return; which turns out was Long asking Miles' opinion on Bielema. Supposedly Miles did extensive "research" on Bielema for at least a few days and gave his approval.
I still think this is a pretty interesting story that doesn't get told enough.

Extensive research? I wonder if he used Chicago style as his citations in the documents he presented to long.

I don't know how many people bought into that Les-Arkansas story, but it wasn't very many here. Only Michigan caught his interest. And even then, it seemed like the Anti-Les crowd was saying "Yeah...take it!"
Post Retirement next week, I know that Mizzou is interested. But the ESPN rumor is strong on that one. Les Miles really does have a great charisma and entertainment factor to be an analyst.
But he will likely take a year off minimum.
